Summer bless

Hi there!

It had been some time since my last post…I had been busy with my internship among other things but I missed sharing my thoughts and moments with you.

So today I decided to share some pictures from one of my summer weekends in Denmark.

It is very common in here for people to spend their summer time in a Summer House, or Kolonihave. My husband’s family  have summer houses both in Rørvig and in Hald, so it is predictable that sometimes we go there for some cosy relaxing get away.

Coming from an island, makes me feel obviously “home” to spend my summer days by the sea/beach, so whenever we get the chance we spend our weekends outside Copenhagen.

A month ago, on our way to the summer house in Rørvig, Kasper and I spend one night at Nykøbing in Sjælland. It was such a relaxing city with such a beautiful harbour. Basicly a “fish city” surrounded by water. You can get delicious fresh fish and sea food everyday and enjoy the amazing panorama. As I love fish, it was so nice for me to be able to buy it fresh, just 10 minutes after it had been caught from the ocean 🙂 .

The night view from the city was also so beautiful as it was possible to clearly see the star and shooting stars while at the same time being surrounded by water.

Here are some pictures from my amazing weekend in Sjælland.

Sit´n´Grilling in Vejby

Hey ya´ll!

I hope you are all enjoying the sun, at least I have been longing for it all year long, so all I think about right now is being out there as most as I can 🙂

So it is, me and Thomas have been yesterday to one of his friend´s place in the north of Denmark for a grilling session with the most amazing griller ever! It is called Sit´n´Grill and it is a table with a grilling center, where everyone can sit around and make their own meal, how amazing is that? I was quite surprised about how easy it was to set and use it, so I can definitely recommend it. Go to their website and check how cool they are! IMG_3143 OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It was a lot of fun, I met wonderful people, we played games, ate amazing fresh food and of course, drank a lot!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

As the weather and the place were quite propitious, I decided to use an off-white summer dress with bordeaux sandals, hope you like it and let us know how you are enjoying your summer!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Copenhagen Street Food

Hi there!

The other day I went with a friend of mine to an International street food space here in Copenhagen, where they also promote sustainability.

The name is Copenhagen Street Food, and here you can be served healthy fast food for little money ( a meal for at least 50 dkk)

It is such a cosy place, located at a calm area near the harbour with such a beautiful view and panorama .

Inspired by the vibrant Borough Market in London and the west coast city of Portland in the U.S., where  food stands are part of the street scene,The space was created to help promoting the global street food cuisine with a focus on quality and sustainability.

With its only  2 months existence, the  place is already making a good impression with their huge range of colourful food market for the people that lives in the centre of Copenhagen with an amazing view to Copenhagen Operahouse and the Royal Playhouse.

The market is for everybody and you can find food from many countries like: Cuba, Spain, Italy, Mexico, France etc. In some of the stands it is possible to pay with both cash and cards in others only cash, so make sure that you have some money with you just in case.

I tried some fish & chips which was absolutely delicious! I can’t wait to go there again.

 Here is the address and opening hours. Make sure to stop by one day and share with HYBRIDA girls your thoughts about the food and place.

Holiday Bootleg Cocktail

What up guys & girls!

Hope you are all enjoying your holidays, I have been doing what I like most the whole day: sewing (and helping my boyfriend with his exams), so no tan-time for me today. However, that does not mean we can´t have some fun and drinks, correct? That is why I want to show you this amazing cocktail which I have seen (and cannot wait to experiment) in one of my favorite food blogs

bootleg-cocktail-recipe-1 bootleg-cocktail

Bootleg mix: lemon/limeade blended with mint, yields enough mix for 4 drinks
  • ½ cup fresh lemon juice (about 3 large lemons, juiced)
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice (about 1 large or 2 medium limes, juiced) or additional lemon juice
  • ¼ cup light agave nectar or cane sugar or honey*
  • 2 packed tablespoons fresh mint leaves
Per drink (note: 2 ounces is ¼ cup)
  • 2 ounces bootleg mix
  • 2 ounces gin, vodka or bourbon
  • 2 ounces club soda
  1. To make the bootleg mix: Juice the lemons and limes into a liquid measuring cup. Add sweetener. Pour the juice and sweetener into a blender. Add 2 firmly packed tablespoons of fresh mint leaves. Blend thoroughly, until the mint is is broken into teeny tiny bits.
  2. To make the drinks: Fill cocktail glasses with ice. For each drink, pour in 2 ounces of your bootleg mix, plus 2 ounces of your liquor of choice and top with 2 ounces club soda. Serve with a straw, which doubles as a stirring device.

Let us know if you try it 😉

Great holidays to all of you!

dinner with 0 waste

As I wrote on my last post, I am currently participating at the Youth Fashion Summit 2014. It was a great starting day experience, and I was impressed how much could be done in only 1 day of work. Well, it is a long process, which I hope will help finding solutions  in order to create a better future for the new generations to come, addressed to the fashion industry.

Anyway, after a long day of brainstorming, discussions, idea generation, workshops and amazing presentations, we went to have dinner at Rub & Stub. It is a cantina to combat food waste, and they focus on sustainability by having a nonprofit kitchen run by volunteers as part of the Association Retro.

The majority of the food from their menu are made from surplus goods from the food industry. It is a pretty new concept and space, with less than a year of existence.

They are constantly working with multiple manufacturers and supermarkets that donate food when they hold surplus products. Therefore, the menu changes from day to day, so that they can best utilize the products that come through the door.

They get the opportunity to put the industry’s surplus stocks to use for good restaurant experiences and ultimately to a very specific charity since that all the profits of the project is for the retros humanitarian development projects ( read more at ).

It was a great experience for me to eat at Rub & Stub, so I wanted to share this amazing initiative with you. They serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.

So whenever you have time and feel like trying out something new, you can always consider to go there. It is cosy, welcoming and the staff (volunteering workers) are friendly.

They are also constantly in need of new volunteers, so if you are interested, you should take a look at their web-page for more information :

Make a difference, take actions 😉

Healthy Lifestyle

So, as mentioned on my last post, I have started on a new and healthier lifestyle.

As many know, I moved out of my parent´s place when I was 19 and came straight away to Denmark. Back then I was, as most teenagers, in good shape, not necessarily because I had healthy habits, but mostly because my metabolism was extraordinary. Seriously! I use to eat a whole bar of chocolate EVERY DAY without even feeling it! Not to mention I did not exercise at all..I guess in a way, I used to cook and eat as a way of not stressing so much over living alone and away from my family and friends.1978725_10152296150394269_689253731_n2009

Well, that obviously did not last long. About after 3 years I started noticing that my weight had increased, my skin was not the same, even my hair and nails were no longer stronger as they used to, but I was so used to just load myself with food that I did not pay much attention and other than entering the gym, I just kept on going the same way.1014128_10151670638919269_1317421648_n2013

Well, I won´t say I haven´t tried some crazy diets but as most of us know, they don´t work! Just about 2 months ago, I decided on taking action and really do something about it. Nothing extreme, I just started waking up earlier to run and taking more care of everything I put in my mouth. Some small changes DO make a difference. I have not only lost 3kg since I started, but also see the difference when I look in the mirror. Plus, I feel much more energetic during the day and relaxed when I sleep, due to the fact that my stomach is not struggling between digesting all the food I just ate and trying to put my body in a sleeping mode.IMG_29782014

I usually don´t like dieting tips, but these small changes are making the whole difference for me and if it helps any of you reading it, I will be already satisfied, so here it goes:

  • Have dinner earlier (you will feel 10kg lighter when you wake up)
  • Find the motivation to exercise (Nike Running app is what keeps me going)
  • Eat slightly less than you usually do during meals (it makes a HUGE difference in the end of the day/week/month/year)
  • Don´t cut all the crap, just eat less of it (better a little everyday then everything during the weekend)
  • Follow motivational profiles on Instagram (to see how healthy some people are, makes me want to be like them)

Hope this will help you out in case you are thinking about changing for a healthier lifestyle. I am not going to say it is easy, but once you see the results, you won´t want to go back! Also, don´t feel demotivated if you lose control during a day or a week, it has happened to me but you just have to take the next day seriously and don´t give up.

Love, Mari.

Khloé’s Birthday!

As April comes, flowers start blooming and so it’s the time to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. Khloé is the name that I chose to my daughter and it means exactly fresh blooming in Greek!

flower blooming

Well, all mothers out there you know how we feel each passing year of our child’s birthday.

On Friday 11th April, 3 years had passed since I gave birth to my beautiful daughter Khloé and since than my life has changed. It is so hard to put into words how having a child changes your  life and how you share your child’s every day life and journey with friends and family like it is the most amazing but yet most challenging experiences you have ever had.

I never understood that before but when I became a mother, I suddenly understood my mother so much more!

I am filled with such a joy and pride to be mother of an amazing sweet girl. Khloé is truly a special gift from God.

Khloé and I

I feel so lucky to have such a caring daughter, with a tender heart full of love and care for those around her even though she is only 3.

I love to watch her sing and dance and especially when she specifically requires having her dress on and for me to turn on the music. She may be tiny but has for sure a big personality already.

Since her first birthday, it had become a tradition for me to bake her birthday cake myself and put my creativity and caring into a next level. I love to see the happiness in her face each time and as she grows old, Khloé now already wishes herself which kind of cake she wishes. It suddenly becoming more challenging to bake as for example this year she asked for a castle cake for her princesses.

Anyway, I cannot wait to celebrate so many more birthdays with Khloé! It’s been my pleasure to care for her through the years and now I look forward to guiding her through her child-hood as she learns to become her own person.

Love you so much Khloé! You are the best thing that has ever happen to me!

Easter in Copenhagen – what to do?

Thanks God It´s Saturday!

Weekend is here, there is a whole holiday week coming in and…what to do if you are on a short budget or not planning to travel out of Copenhagen? Well, so are we! Join us and let´s take a trip on some tips of what do.

If you, like us, are into some serious (and unexpensive) shopping, then you should for sure visit the CPH Fashion Outlet at Øksnehalen. It is going to happen today and tomorrow from 10-17 and there is free entrance! So hurry up and click on the picture in order to get your free pass-ticket.Screen Shot 2014-04-11 at 11.09.37 AM

As a good Brazilian who appreciates all forms of art, I became extremely happy when I got to know that the Film Festival CPH PIX was having a whole week with new Brazilian movies. Personally, I want to watch “Praia do Futuro”, but all the other titles seem just as exciting, so if you tired of the Hollywood comedies and want to try something new, go for it.Screen Shot 2014-04-11 at 11.26.51 AM

Just want to take a walk in the city and get a little lost? Well, then you should go to Jægersborggade. This might be one of the sweetest streets in Cph. Filled with all sorts of shops, from trendy cafes and restaurants to designed and handmade crafts, you will for sure find something to do in there. Just grabbing a cup of coffee and going to the cemetery/park by the side of it is one of the coziest things to do on lazy Sundays.jaegersborggade_ty_stangePicture from Visit Copenhagen

“Life is short, don´t be content with the ordinary, go extraordinary” So says the owners at 1105, one of the coolest cocktail bars we have been lately. Make sure you order a Cucumber Yum-yum with the DM-winner Hardeep Reehal and you will have your night´s highlight! Prices are a little over student-budgets, but totally worth it!4749403-llPicture from AOK

Let us know if have been to any of these places and what you thought of it or what your plans are for Easter Holidays!

Enjoy the weekend!

Healthy avocado snack

Hey guys, today I want to share with you a delicious, healthy and quick recipe that I came up with as a solution for a quick healthy meal.

It is very simple and easy to make. I got inspired from guacamole and “tarteletter” .

So, for this recipe you will need:

  •  2 avocados;
  • 4 cherry tomatoes or 1 normal tomato;
  • 8 tartlets ( you can buy them already made );
  • 1 onion;
  • 1 tea spoon of olive oil;
  •  200g of  shrimps ( already cooked);
  • salt and pepper;
  • 1 big spoon of guacamole mix (powder) (if you don’t like spice food, you don’t need to add this ingredient);

Start by cutting the avocados and put them on a boll. Smash them with a fork or a spoon  and add a bit of salt, pepper and olive oil.

While you are preparing the ingredients, turn on the oven on 200 degrees and wait until is warm. Put the tartlets on the oven for 5-7 minutes, so that they can become a bit crispy.

In the meanwhile, cut the tomatoes and onions and mix them with the avocado. To finalize  add 1 big spoon of guacamole mix powder.

When the tartlets are done, take them off from the oven and let them cool down for a minute.

Fill up the tartlets with the avocado mixture together with the shrimps and your done!

You can serve this delicious meal as an entré, a snack or you can even eat it as a main course. Have fun making your avocado tartlets and let me know what you thought about the recipe once you  tried them 😉

With love,
