The only beach towel you will ever need!

What up boys & girls!

Here I am again and this time to let you know of the only thing you will (probably) need during this sumer! You might be thinking a new outfit or shoes or perfume..well, even though I study fashion design, that is not what I consider quite important during this season. Because of the fact that I come from a quite tropical country, the most important for me would be to feel comfortable while by the beach, which is where I will be spending most of my time 🙂OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Not a long time ago I got to know about this amazing beach towel designed by the sweetest guys in San Diego. But what is so special about a beach towel, Mariana? You might be thinking, huh… I bet you at some point had to improvise a little pillow (made out of clothes, backpacks and the most crazy shit) in order to lay down by the sand and not feel pain by the end of the day! Well, it always happened to me, but Bruno, Brandon and Steve thought of a towel that comes with a light pillow inside, so you can easily carry everywhere you go with no extra weight!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Not only that, but the towel is eco-friendly and made out if 100% turkish cotton, which makes it extra-comfy.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I could not wait to test mine and here you can see the infinite ways you can use it. Beach towel, sarong, turban, headband, you name it!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

If you want to help out this amazing guys by backing up the project, run to see their campaign and pre-order your Sand Cloud towel, I am sure you will love it ❤

Roskilde Festival 2014

Hello my great people!

I have been missing the blog like crazy, but as you know, lately I took some days off for myself in order to attend Roskilde Festival in Denmark and I gotta say: DAMN, IT WAS GREAT!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It is almost a tradition for some Danes to attend this amazing musical experience every year and I have been waiting for 7 years to finally do it, but it was totally worth it! Some of my favourite bands and artists were performing (Emicida -from Brazil-, Major Lazer, Drake..oh wait..) and I had the pleasure to go with my homies: Thomas, William, Aman, Moe and Caroline, who helped the camp experience to be amazing!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIMG_3250

The greatest thing about Roskilde are the details, the organisation and the mood. The many lounges and volunteers areas are great and very cozy when you need a rest.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It also makes a great experience to be aloud to wear whatever you want and in our album on Facebook you can see the most stylish people who have been there. Enjoy it and feel free to tag your friends and/or yourself 🙂

Sit´n´Grilling in Vejby

Hey ya´ll!

I hope you are all enjoying the sun, at least I have been longing for it all year long, so all I think about right now is being out there as most as I can 🙂

So it is, me and Thomas have been yesterday to one of his friend´s place in the north of Denmark for a grilling session with the most amazing griller ever! It is called Sit´n´Grill and it is a table with a grilling center, where everyone can sit around and make their own meal, how amazing is that? I was quite surprised about how easy it was to set and use it, so I can definitely recommend it. Go to their website and check how cool they are! IMG_3143 OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It was a lot of fun, I met wonderful people, we played games, ate amazing fresh food and of course, drank a lot!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

As the weather and the place were quite propitious, I decided to use an off-white summer dress with bordeaux sandals, hope you like it and let us know how you are enjoying your summer!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

ELLE Style Awards 2014

Hi everyone!

Last night I had the chance to be at ELLE Style Awards 2014, which took place in Concert Hall in DR City.

It was such a glamorous evening with a lot of stylish and talented people. I did not know what to wear for such an event, so i had decided to design and sew my own dress.

There were so many nominees and prizes that I won’t be able to make a review of all of them today  but on my next post I will let you know in more details about what my thoughts are about each winner.  For now, just a short review of what happened and off course a lot of pictures to get you into the mood of the ELLE style Awards.

First day in Rome

Hi everyone.

I am back in Copenhagen where it is a bit cold, bbrr.. Well, i have my computer now, so I want to show you some pictures from my amazing trip to Rome.
I had the best time with my friend. We lived close to Termini Station in a cute little apartment. We have been walking around the whole city so I am pretty happy that we both took our sneakers with us – such a relief! I wore them every day!

We have been eating so much delicious meat, pizza, pasta, bread, olive oil, truffles, ice cream, tiramisu, coffee – you name it! 😉 And we were really happy because we only ate at places that had been recommended to us, or we had researched on the internet before hand, so the food was amazing.

Summer Festivals

When in Denmark one CANNOT start creating expectations about summer, because rain will come and wash it all away…Oh, DK!

Well, despite the funny coming and going of my beloved sun, I am pretty much excited about this summer. First, because lately I had to stop and think about my weight, which has been increasing for the last few years (I guess being in a relationship DOES help you gaining weight!), then I decided on having a healthier lifestyle – don´t miss my next post! – so I am expecting to have, as Danes say, a “bikini ready” body until summer, but mostly keep on being healthy. IMG_2377Second, because so many festivals on the corner just makes you dream of fresh outfits and sitting on the grass with friends and a couple of drinks, so here is a list with 5 Scandinavian Festivals which you just cannot miss:

Distortion – June 4-8DistortionThis is a Street Music Festival that sort of opens the summer season in Copenhagen, so whenever the whole city is out for Distortion, you know it is time to put on some shorts! This year, it is going to happen from June 4th to 8th starting in Nørrebro and Vesterbro, then heading to the Harbour of Copenhagen and the Final Party. The best thing about this festival is that it is for free so everyone can join, but if you are not planning to attend it, watch out these streets, so you can chose other ways to go to your destination. It is almost impossible to bike, drive or even walk.

Secret Solstice – June 20-22Solstice Secret Solstice in Iceland has been gaining a lot of international and local recognition, maybe because of the exciting explanation behind it (it will happen during the 24-hour midnight sun during Summer Solstice and is based on the old Norse Mythology) or the even more exciting line up, which includes Massive Attack, Woodkid, Kerri Chandler and many more. If you ever wished to be in a place with endless sun, this is your destination!

Roskilde Festival – June 29-July 06RoskildeThe 43 year old pioneer – and one of the largest in Europe – festival that happens in the city of Roskilde, Denmark brings this year, among others, heavy names like The Rolling Stones, Drake, Stevie Wonder, Lykke Li and Manu Chao. It is a big event, so make sure to have a tent, plenty of food and beer. The good thing is that there is the possibility for students to volunteer for small jobs and get free tickets.

Stella Pollaris – early AugustStellaImagine yourself surrounded by nature, good music and company. The coolest locations are always held for this electronic music festival.. Be aware for whenever Stella Pollaris releases the dates for 2014, since this is a MUST GO festival if you live in Cph!

Strøm – August 11-17StrømIf you are into electronic music, this is the festival for you! With a range of Danish and International DJs and musicians, it is held late summer in different venues around the town of Copenhagen.

This year, I personally plan to attend Distortion, Stella Pollaris and go to Roskilde Festival as a volunteer, how about you, which summer festivals do you plan to go to?

Love, Mari

Easter in Copenhagen – what to do?

Thanks God It´s Saturday!

Weekend is here, there is a whole holiday week coming in and…what to do if you are on a short budget or not planning to travel out of Copenhagen? Well, so are we! Join us and let´s take a trip on some tips of what do.

If you, like us, are into some serious (and unexpensive) shopping, then you should for sure visit the CPH Fashion Outlet at Øksnehalen. It is going to happen today and tomorrow from 10-17 and there is free entrance! So hurry up and click on the picture in order to get your free pass-ticket.Screen Shot 2014-04-11 at 11.09.37 AM

As a good Brazilian who appreciates all forms of art, I became extremely happy when I got to know that the Film Festival CPH PIX was having a whole week with new Brazilian movies. Personally, I want to watch “Praia do Futuro”, but all the other titles seem just as exciting, so if you tired of the Hollywood comedies and want to try something new, go for it.Screen Shot 2014-04-11 at 11.26.51 AM

Just want to take a walk in the city and get a little lost? Well, then you should go to Jægersborggade. This might be one of the sweetest streets in Cph. Filled with all sorts of shops, from trendy cafes and restaurants to designed and handmade crafts, you will for sure find something to do in there. Just grabbing a cup of coffee and going to the cemetery/park by the side of it is one of the coziest things to do on lazy Sundays.jaegersborggade_ty_stangePicture from Visit Copenhagen

“Life is short, don´t be content with the ordinary, go extraordinary” So says the owners at 1105, one of the coolest cocktail bars we have been lately. Make sure you order a Cucumber Yum-yum with the DM-winner Hardeep Reehal and you will have your night´s highlight! Prices are a little over student-budgets, but totally worth it!4749403-llPicture from AOK

Let us know if have been to any of these places and what you thought of it or what your plans are for Easter Holidays!

Enjoy the weekend!

Sao Paulo Fashion Week SS15

Happy thursday everyone, so it is Fashion Week time in Brazil!

The capital of Sao Paulo is bubbling with it´s 37th Fashion Week edition. Many of the brands presented have been showing a wide range of bright colours and use of exclusive materials like latex, so lay back and enjoy it! Here are some of my favorite pieces from the collections presented on the first and second days of SPFW.

CavaleraCavalera-SS15Cavalera has been inspired (as many others during this season) by tropical scenarios, which I -as a good Brazilian- just can´t get enough of! I am madly in love with the light fringed kimonos and the flowery print in black background, which gives a good balance to the items.

Tufi DuekTufi-Duek-SS15The designer shows a retro design with futuristic details in this “swimming pools” inspired collection. New and technological materials such as the holographic tulle made the girly-shaped dresses look like it came from the future!

Joao PimentaJoao-Pimenta-SS15This quite cool menswear brand mixed beach inspiration and tailoring with elegance this season, making an unexpected use of materials like leather.

AnimaleAnimale-SS15Some of the SS15 pieces from Animale are composed with exclusive lace and embroidery that makes you want to look closer to discover them. Inspired by the northern regions of Brazil, they have also produced items out of latex, which is one of the country´s own materials.

Patricia MottaPatricia-Motta-SS15I love the application of bright colors into rough materials like leather and suede, which Patricia did with unusual neatness.

Pat Pat´sPat-Pat´s-SS15A cousin who lives in the USA and enjoys a relaxed beach-lifestyle inspired the young designer. The laser-cut pieces in summer colors are just to put on and go out!

Alexandre HercovitchAlexandre-Hercovitch-SS15With a long-life career and many amazing collections on his hands, Hercovitch one more time surprised showing a 50´s based collection with inspiration on Marilyn Monroe. Not obvious at all and very technological. I want the white latex coat now!

Giuliana RomannoGiuliana-Romanno-SS15The mix of soft pastels with stronger tones on top of sporty shapes works perfectly for this season. Way to go Giuliana!

The event runs until April 4th, so if you want to see the rest of the shows, make sure go to the Fashion Forward page and let us know what you think of the fashion scene in Brazil 😉
